| Since our last newsletter, we have seen significant political change at both ends of the M4. |
| Under Rhun ap Iorwerth’s leadership, Plaid Cymru has completed its first 100 days in office, with new priorities, ideas and commitments about the future of Wales. |
| Meanwhile, the UK has welcomed a new Prime Minister in Andy Burnham, and a new cabinet, promising transformational change and a renewed commitment to devolution in the nations and regions. |
| During this time, Cadno has supported clients to engage with the new Welsh Government and new cohort of Senedd Members, whilst continuing to grow, with new clients and an expanding team. We anticipate a busy autumn ahead, with conference and events season and major political milestones to come for both the Welsh and UK governments. |

| Cadno’s Public Affairs team has expanded, with the appointment of Stan Senior as Policy and Public Affairs Manager. |
| Stan is a fluent Welsh speaker and brings a wealth of experience having led on housing policy at the Welsh Refugee Council, and led the housing, culture and Welsh language brief as a Senior Policy Analyst at Newsdirect Wales/DeHavilland Cymru. |

| Cadno’s Director Angharad Davies said, “We are delighted to have Stan on board. | Having recently graduated from an MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management, Hannah is looking forward to working alongside the team on some exciting infrastructure projects as a Communications Intern. Alongside her internship with Cando, she is undertaking a placement for Turley as an EIA assistant consultant- providing her with insight into different sides of developments projects. |

| Become a member of the new Senedd Cross Party Group on Renewable & Low Carbon Energy |

| The Senedd Cross Party Group (CPG) on Renewable & Low Carbon Energy has been re-registered for the Seventh Senedd by new Chair Huw Thomas MS (Welsh Labour) and with cross-party support from Paul Rock MS (Wales Green Party), Janet Finch-Saunders MS (Welsh Conservatives), Anthony Slaughter MS (Wales Green Party) and Elwyn Vaughan MS (Plaid Cymru). |
| The CPG is a forum to facilitate discussions between industry and parliamentarians and inform the debate on renewable and low carbon energy in Wales. |

| “SIP and the Senedd: Power, policy and planning” |
| In June, Eversheds Sutherland Energy brought together colleagues from across the Welsh energy sector for two panel sessions examining Wales’ evolving consenting regime and the role of the new Welsh Government in shaping future energy and infrastructure projects. |

| Cadno’s Angharad joined a panel alongside Eleri Davies of RWE and the Rt Hon Vaughan Gething, former First Minister for Wales, to discuss how policy and regulatory changes could influence the delivery of future projects. |
| Angharad reflected on the significant challenges facing renewable energy developers in Wales in the face of the urgent need for a more sustainable and resilient energy system for Wales. |

| It was a pleasure to support VodafoneThree at Y Farchnad in June, providing an opportunity to showcase the progress being made to improve digital connectivity across Wales. The event generated strong engagement, with representatives from Welsh Labour, the Welsh Conservatives, Plaid Cymru and Reform UK taking part in discussions on the importance of reliable digital infrastructure. |

| Cadno joined Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water at both the Eisteddfod Genedlaethol in Pembrokeshire and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show to promote the Let’s Save Water Campaign / Ymgyrch Dewch i Arbed Dŵr. Visitors were invited to share their views on water use, the challenges facing Wales and the small changes that can make a big difference in protecting Wales’ precious water resources. |

| Cadno’s Nel joined Owen Chennetier from Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru and Lefi Dafydd, member of the Welsh language band Dewin, for a panel discussion on communicating the climate crisis with people in Wales. Hosted by Dr Catrin Ellis Jones from Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, the panel reflected on their personal highs and lows when discussing climate issues and the challenges of engaging different audiences. The conversation highlighted the potential for a more ambitious Wales, with panelists encouraging greater awareness and action, whilst ensuring we don’t lose the ‘hen ffordd Gymreig o fyw’ [old Welsh way of life]. |

| Cadno supported Wales & West Utilities at this year’s Royal Welsh Agricultural Show to coordinate a panel discussion on the role of biomethane and green gas in the future of Welsh agriculture and energy. |
| Comprising Elwyn Vaughan MS, Chair of the Senedd’s Economy, Energy and Connectivity Committee, Wales & West Utilities, NFU Cymru and the Green Gas Taskforce, the panel showcased the significant potential of green gas production to support the transition to low-carbon energy while delivering benefits for farming communities and the wider rural economy. |

| Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru Carmarthenshire Business Breakfast |
| In July, Cadno supported Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru to host a business breakfast event which brought together over 60 business leaders, third sector organisations and educators from across the Carmarthenshire and wider Swansea Bay City Region. |
| Compered by Bronwen Raine, Managing Director of Antur Cymru, the event highlighted the opportunities and economic benefits generated by infrastructure developments in the area, including Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru’s proposed Glyn Cothi Wind Farm in Brechfa Forest. |

| Inspiring the next generation of energy professionals |
| As part of the Destination Renewables programme, Cadno welcomed engineering and construction students from Pembrokeshire College on a visit to the Senedd. Students heard from Ffion Davies of EDF and Sam Kurtz MS, who gave them an insight into the employment opportunities for Pembrokeshire’s future workforce as the region continues to develop as a hub for renewable energy. |

| Lydia Eedy joined the team from December to May as a Public Affairs Intern to support delivery of Cadno’s Senedd Election Service. Again, Cardiff University’s Student Futures Team provided excellent quality candidates and support throughout the placement. |
| Coming from a marketing background and studying for a Master’s degree in Marketing at Cardiff University, Lydia brought a strong foundation in research, messaging and strategic communications. During her time with Cadno, she successfully applied these skills to the world of political communications and gained valuable experience. |

| Cadno and clients join forces for Keep Wales Tidy |
| A lot of fun, but far too much litter! As part of Keep Wales Tidy’s Spring Clean Cymru campaign, the Cadno team, alongside clients, spent a breezy day in March helping to clean up Merthyr Mawr, collecting an impressive 17 bags of rubbish. |

| Cadno supported Coriolis Energy to visit Clwb Ffermwyr Ifanc (Young Farmers’ Club) Sarnau to discuss renewable energy and Coriolis Energy’s proposed Foel Fach Wind Farm near Y Bala. The members threw themselves into the practical task of building a turbine using recycled materials with such enthusiasm and skill, that all three wind turbines were fully operational! |

| Clwb Pêl Droed Treganna |
| Cadno is a proud sponsor of Clwb Pêl Droed Treganna – for the third year running. CPD Treganna was formed by a group of friends who wanted to start their own football team and compete regularly. The club has since grown to two senior sides playing in the Cardiff Combination League. |
