Ewan’s reflections after one year at Cadno

by | Feb 3, 2025

Last week, I celebrated my first anniversary at Cadno. I am so proud of the last year and what I have achieved alongside our great team. My utmost gratitude goes out to our hard-working team Sarah, Angharad and Daniel, who have taught me so much this year.

I have enjoyed working with our great clients, who are all doing important work across the renewable energy sector. It has been so fulfilling to work on projects which will make a significant contribution to the country’s ambitions in achieving clean energy and addressing the climate crisis.

From planning and attending consultation events, to conversations with experts in the energy sector, to meaningful engagement with members of the public and elected officials; I have acquired a range of knowledge and skills which have enabled me to gain valuable experience and become more confident in applying myself to important tasks and communicating to achieve positive outcomes; and very importantly, having the privilege of being able to communicate in Welsh on a variety of projects.

Notably, I am so pleased to have organised and advised on successful consultation events for Coriolis Energy’s proposed Foel Fach Wind Farm and RWE’s Carnedd Wen Wind Farm, the latter being the first consultation event I attended. I am also pleased to have organised interviews with Welsh stakeholders for The Crown Estate’s Nature Recovery Strategy and to have undertaken a secondment as a workplace coordinator at The Crown Estate’s office in Cardiff.

These experiences collectively have enhanced my understanding about a variety of important aspects of our industry, including biodiversity and nature, energy and renewables and Welsh and British politics and policy. I am incredibly grateful to be part of a sector that is so important to addressing the climate and the environment – which I am incredibly passionate about – and look forward to the year ahead.

“It has been a pleasure to welcome Ewan Alexander into the Cadno den for his first graduate job. We are so pleased at how he has progressed in the space of a year. He brings lots of enthusiasm and energy to his role, and crucially, a willingness to give things a go! It’s good to know that Ewan will be by our side helping us to embrace the opportunities and navigate the challenges that 2025 will bring!”
