We welcomed learners from Pembrokeshire College’s Destination Renewables programme to the Senedd for a tour and discussion about working in the energy sector.
During the visit, the group had the chance to hear from Ffion Davies of EDF, who shared insights on Wales’ growing renewables industry. They also met with local MS, Sam Kurtz, who spoke about the importance of skills development and pathways into future green jobs. He said:
During their visit, I spoke to them about my role as a Member of the Senedd, how laws are made, and how the different layers of government work together, including the relationship between the council, the Senedd and Westminster.’
The students are developing valuable engineering and construction skills that will help ensure we have a local workforce ready to meet the needs of Pembrokeshire’s growing energy sector.
The students were engaging and clearly motivated by the opportunities opening up across the renewable energy space.
